On the My Goals tab, you can see your progress toward your reading goals. If you don't have goals, the tab's name is My Progress instead, and you will see your reading progress. This is the first tab that you see when you select Progress in Accelerated Reader or when you use Renaissance Home Connect.
Are you a parent? You can select Get Email Updates at the top of the page to receive emails whenever your child takes Accelerated Reader quizzes or Star tests. You can also see your child's Star scores on the My Goals tab. To look up books that have Accelerated Reader quizzes, go to https://www.arbookfind.com/.
The goals and progress that you see are for the marking period that's happening now. A marking period may be a quarter, semester, trimester, or any time period that your school uses for goals. To see your progress for a different marking period, use the drop-down list to choose it. If you choose a past marking period, you will see whether you met your goals for that marking period.
Points Goal
Next, you will see how many points you have earned. You earn points by reading books and articles and passing quizzes. Different books are worth different points; the number of points you earn depends on how many questions you get right.
If You Have Goals
If your teacher has set reading goals for the marking period, first you will see a message telling you how you are doing on your points goal. The message will tell you how many points you need to earn to stay on track or to help you make your goal. A line below the message will show you the start and end date for the marking period and how much time is left.
Next, you will see a rocket heading toward a planet. Your points goal is underneath the planet. The rocket will show the percent of the goal you've earned so far. If you need to make the rocket and clouds stop moving, select Stop Animation.
When you meet your points goal, the rocket will reach the planet, which will get bigger as the rocket gets closer. When the rocket gets to the planet, select Continue.
After that, you'll see fireworks. Select Continue again.
Now that you've met your goal, you will see the rocket, your points, and the percent of the goal you've met, which is over 100%.
If You Don't Have a Goal
If you don't have goals, the message will tell you how many days are left in the marking period.
The rocket will fly through space, and you will see how many points you have earned so far by passing Accelerated Reader quizzes. If you need to make the rocket and clouds stop moving, select Stop Animation.
Overall Quiz Scores
This graph shows you how well you are doing on quizzes overall (an average score for your quizzes). The more questions you answer correctly on quizzes, the better your overall score will be. The large number shows your overall score. Below your score, you'll see whether your score is at or below your goal and what your goal is. The graph will also show you where the goal is and where your score is.
In the example above, the student's goal is 85%, and the student's average score is 93%, so the student's score is higher than the goal.
Reading Range
Next you will see your reading range. The range shows you the book levels for books that are right for you. If you read in both English and Spanish, you might see a range for each language. Below your reading range, you will see a message about your reading. If you're ready to find your next book, select Find More Books to Read under the message.
About Your Reading
Below the graphs, you'll see more information about your reading during the marking period.
Quizzes Passed shows you how many quizzes you have passed. This number includes any type of Accelerated Reader quiz that you have passed.
Words Read shows you how many words you have read based on the Reading Practice Quizzes, Article Quizzes, and Other Reading Quizzes you passed. When you pass a quiz, you get credit for all the words in the book or article.
Fiction Read shows you how much of your reading has been fiction (fiction stories are made up). This comes from the points you earn when you pass quizzes. Nonfiction Read shows you what percent of your reading has been nonfiction. Nonfiction books and articles describe real events or information.
If you read in Spanish too, you will see how many of the points you earned are from Spanish quizzes and how many are from English quizzes.
Star Unified Scores
If you have taken Star Reading and/or Star Math tests during the marking period in English or Spanish, you will see your latest score(s) at the bottom of the page. These are Unified scale scores.
Other Progress
Click one of the other tabs to see more information about your work. If your teacher has set certification goals, you can see them on the My Certifications tab. The My Completed Work tab shows you the reading quizzes and Star Custom tests that you have taken.
